The Napa Mermaid Hotel
After a hectic summer of non- stop travel in Thailand, followed by Germany and the Greek Islands, I returned back home in Cyprus eager for a long-awaited weekend of doing absolutely…nothing.
The art of doing nothing is usually the kind of skill that only men possess but I was well and truly ready to master it myself. It was time to kick back, recharge my batteries and enjoy my hometown in perfect bliss and luxury.
Enter the 4* Napa Mermaid Hotel, here to provide the perfect Cyprus Holiday in more ways than one.
Its superb location allows the holidaymaker to be a few minutes away from the town center and yet right across from the crystal waters and sandy beach of Grecian Bay.
The hotel is so serene and luxurious, the grounds so pristine and the colors so calming you almost forget you are in one of the biggest party capitals in Europe!

Have I found the best hotel in Ayia Napa? Well, after a blissful weekend at the Napa Mermaid Hotel and Suites I think I might have done just that. Read on for more.

The Lobby and Staff
Upon entering the large, spacious lobby you are immediately greeted by the friendly staff who – I must mention- are all Greek Cypriot – something extremely rare in any hotel in Cyprus. The staff can really make or break your holidays so I was very grateful that they were fantastic, always approachable and helpful and greeted us every time we walked past their desk. The check-in was quick and efficient and the staff gave us a brief summary of the hotel and its amenities while we sat in just one of the 4 lobby areas.

The hotel offers an indoor and outdoor pool, a gym, a tennis court, a spa, a sauna, Jacuzzi and steam room, a conference room, complimentary Wifi and parking, a restaurant, pool bar, and a cocktails bar.
The lobby is beautiful and extremely spacious yet somehow retains a homely, clean feel to it. I especially adored the use of white, wood and the odd splash of color- so calming to their eyes!

The Rooms
Junior Suite ( Where I stayed) Room Size 42sq.m
Drowned in luxury and elegance, these 5* suites are characterized by their private and distinguished and elegant deco. Plenty of Natural light and soothing earthy colors mixed with my all favorite color- white. Picture a large balcony providing breathtaking views of the Mediterranean Sea and the pool, as well as 2 LCD TV’s, a living room, a separate walking rain shower and the most comfortable bed I’ve slept in all in months! The suites also provide things like a minibar, hairdryer, ample charging outlets, bathrobes and toiletries, tea and coffee facilities, Wifi, fruit, wine, and flowers. its Luxury at its absolute best and I was in heaven!

The Facilities
Out of all the facilities offered, I used the pool, the bar, and the spa the most.
I am a spa fanatic, and I ALWAYS check out every spa in my vicinity. I must have been to over 50 spas and have no intention of stopping!

A little smaller than I am used to, with only 3 rooms- but definitely hits the mark!
The Elemis products used in all treatments smell fantastic and the Aromatherapy Massage I got left me feeling like I was floating on air for a good couple of hours – I almost didn’t make it to dinner that evening!
In regards to hydro-therapies, It might not offer things like a seawater pool, or a mud pool but it has a beautiful large and heated indoor pool, and a strong double jacuzzi in the corner.
I made full use of the sauna and steam room on my second day, and they are in perfect working order.

Editors Note: If you have also been to spas you will be glad to know it doesn't smell ''musky'' at all - that smell that places get when they are working with moisture in an indoor place.
I would have liked the views in the relaxing area to be a little more tropical but apart from that, the spa gets a 4/5 rating!

The Outdoor pool :
My favorite place, where I spent most of my weekend! I am a tan fanatic and a water enthusiast. The pool is large and squeaky clean with plenty of sun loungers around it also extending around the corner into more secluded and quiet areas.
Plenty of shade available, although I never make use of it myself! The pool staff is so friendly and I particularly loved the ice-cold towels and little slushies they bring round to the guests to cool them off.
The milkshakes are to die for!(sugar-crazed person over here).
I would have loved to see the beds a bit more pliable so you can snooze on them mid tanning!

The cocktail bar
Fell in love with this! One of the best burgers I’ve had along with a strong Cosmopolitan to boot. #winner.
Seated up top and decorated almost entirely in white, it has an extensive cocktail menu and simple but very well made food.
The kind of place you can visit during lunch in your bikini, or for after-dinner drinks in your best attire.

The Breakfast
Good lord. YES.
After a month in Thailand, I was desperate for elaborate full breakfast service and Napa Mermaid did not disappoint!
An absolutely huge buffet service including full English breakfast, waffles, and pancakes (finally with real Nutella spread). Also, a huge array of bread and cheeses, cereals, cakes, muffins, fruits, nuts and everything you can possibly think of.
Fresh Juices (totally rare) and a real -state of the art- coffee machine with full-sized mugs.
If you have traveled outside of Europe you will agree that they are a rare commodity!
There was no bikini body after eating that- I can assure you!

The Flavours Restaurant
I didn’t use their lunch service as I was completely stuffed from breakfast but I went down for dinner. The restaurant offers both indoor and outdoor seating on the terrace and serves buffet themed nights, and of course, I got there on the Asian night!!
After a month in actual Asia, it wasn’t ideal now, was it. Having said that, the food was plentiful, and extremely well made. Loved the fresh sushi and crab and sashimi salads! I usually detest Asian food when I eat it outside of Asia but I’m relieved to say the chefs know what they are doing!
Desserts were good, but I am extremely fussy and I hate nuts, so would have liked to see some more options in the dessert tray!
All in all, a lovely dining experience. Rating 4/5

My overall experience at the Napa Mermaid Hotel and Suites
My overall experience here was fantastic. Still perplexed as to why this hotel is ”only” a 4* to be honest.
Everything was so pleasing and spotless to the eyes! The colors are so soothing and the room so utterly comfortable and decadent.
It’s so centrally located you really do get the best of both worlds (i am a sucker for convenience).
The food and cocktails were top-notch, the staff extremely well trained and looked genuinely happy to be working there. You can tell a lot about a venue from its staff!

Cyprus is undoubtedly a gorgeous island, but with so many horrific hotel/ apartment experiences from tourists and locals alike you never really know what you are going to get.
Well, now you know! A picture-perfect oasis offering utter relaxation and the right amount of indulgence makes this my top affordable destination for locals and tourists alike!
